Day 1:
Pick up in Maun, your guide will meet you the airport (or anywhere in Maun) in the early afternoon and connect you with your Helicopter Horizons pilot. From there you go on a helicopter transfer to an Okavango base camp set on the border of the Delta and overlooking a hippo lagoon. Once in camp our guide will show you around and take you to your tented accommodation, riverside meru tents with beds and each with their own bathroom. We have a mini-bar available in the main area from which you may help yourselves to beverages and enjoy the sunset over the hippo lagoon. Shortly after sunset a 3 course fire cooked dinner will served in the dining area.
Day 2:
Mokoro excursion and island game walk At daybreak we will deliver hot water, coffee and tea to the verandah in front of your tent and give you a wake-up call to get ready for an early breakfast. We depart on the safari vehicle around sunrise for a half hour drive to the "Buffalo" fence and then a further 1 hour game viewing drive to Ditshipi where we find a mokoro starting point well within the delta. At the mokoro "station" we meet the team of "polers" who take you and your guide for a 6 hour combination of being on the water and going on a game walk. When arriving back from your walk your guide will set out a sumptuous picnic lunch before heading back on the mekoro to your waiting safari vehicle. Water levels permitting we will try to use a different route for your game drive back to camp for a shower, sun downers and dinner.
Day 3:
Drive to Moremi game reserve We start your third day at a more leisurely pace with your warm beverage being delivered to your tent at sunrise with breakfast served any time before 8am. At 8:30m we set off for a 3 night safari to Moremi Game Reserve, stopping off en-route at "Elephant Havens", a wildlife foundation that runs an Elephant orphanage and reintroduction program. After a 1 hour tour at the orphanage we continue on our way, arriving at South Gate Moremi by midday. From South Gate we head off on a slow game drive through the wildlife rich Western flood plains of the Moremi Game Reserve. A picnic lunch in the Xinii area gives us a break, we then head on to our camp in the 3rd Bridge area. Arrival at the camp is at around 5:30pm here we find our meru tents set up ahead of us and dinner preparations underway. Our staff will have heated water on the fire to fill your bucket shower for you to enjoy at your leisure. Each Meru tent will have an enclosure attached at the rear of the tent with a bush toilet and shower.
Day 4:
Full day in Moremi Game Reserve with boating After an early breakfast we will go out for a full day game viewing with a packed picnic lunch. At around 2:30pm we will go out on a 2 hour boat cruise from the Xakanaxa boat station. We then head on a game drive back to camp.
Day 5:
Full day in Moremi Game Reserve On our last full day on safari we slow the pace down a bit. Rather than going out for a full day game drive we go out for a morning game drive and an afternoon game drive with sun downers. We return back to camp for lunch and a little relaxation.
Day 6:
Drive from Moremi to Maun A super early wake up and a dawn game drive, returning for a full cooked breakfast. We depart camp at 8am to be back in Maun before midday.
